Help for Smoking cessation

We highly recommend smoking cessation for all smokers. There are many resources available at national and state levels. We will be happy to discuss medication options for smoking cessation in the context of a smoking cessation program.

Caffeine

Two 8- ounce cups of coffee should be the limit.

It is better to drink in small amounts frequently as opposed to the standard American mug of coffee.

How fast it is metabolized varies from person to person. Also smoking increases its metabolism while pregnancy greatly reduces it.

In general it’s best not to drink caffeine after about 2 p.m.

Both coffee and tea are linked to a host of health benefits, including reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, lower risk of type 2 diabetes and improved longevity.

Meditation

A good local resource is Insight Meditation Fort Wayne at https://www.imfw.org/home

You may also consider educational videos on line by Jon Kabat-Zinn.

Community Mental Health Centers

If your problems are such that they cannot be appropriately addressed in our small one physician office, we  may refer you to a local community mental health center. They receive substantial grants from federal and state governments  and have large multidisciplinary resources to help address complex long-standing problems that need close coordination in multidisciplinary treatment teams. Two  major community mental health centers in our community are Park Center (260-481-2800) and Bowen center (260-471-3500).
